You Cam Make Your Wedding Reception Unforgettable, Stress-Free and Fun When You Understand How Important A Role Your DJ Plays in The Success of Your Entire Reception!

I understand that for most people, choosing a DJ is often difficult and confusing, yet it is the single most important decision you will make for your wedding reception.  Since everyone claims to be “the best” how can you really know who is good and who is an amateur?  For a once in a lifetime event like a wedding reception, I it highly recommended that you start with a wedding professional.  Don’t take the chance with a “friend of a friend.”  Although people mean well, lack of experience or skill will not prepare them to handle the unexpected details.

First, I recommend you start with a wedding specialist.  A DJ from a club or school dance may be great, but they’re not necessarily right for your wedding.

Second, meet with the DJ Company.  This is not a decision that can be made over the phone.  You must be sure you are comfortable with the DJ’s style and see if it is a good match for you.  After all, they will be representing you at your wedding reception.

Third, check the history and the background of the DJ Company.  Do they have references?  And don’t just take their word for it, call several of their references and find out WHY the client loved their service.

Don’t make the mistake of choosing a DJ by price alone.  If the DJ is not a good fit, but the right price, it will not matter a bit if he ruins your special day that you spent big money for and several months of planning.

How much should I pay for a DJ?

All the bridal magazines, wedding planning books and guides recommend that wedding couples allocate 5%-10% of their budget toward the DJ and Emcee Wedding Entertainment.  As a matter of fact, sources like The Knot recommend no less than 8%-10%.  So if your wedding budget is $20,000 you would allocate between $1,000-$2,000 for a DJ, if your wedding budget is $30,000 it is not uncommon to set aside $1,500-$3,000.  If you spend significantly less than this, you may run the risk of hiring a wedding DJ that is not the quality that you deserve on your special day.  Just to give you some perspective, the average price of a Wedding in California is $30,000 with the national average at $27,800.

“Add Testimonial”

Since the DJ you hire will bear the responsibility of 80% of the success of your wedding reception, it is easy to see how important it is to choose wisely.  The DJ should be considered “The Entertainment Director.”  A common misconception is that the DJ is just “the music,” but in reality, the DJ must perform several duties.

Duties of your DJ include:

  • Meeting with the Bride, Groom and Family Members
  • Creating the Timeline/Agenda
  • Coordinating the Flow with Photographers, Videogrpaher, Catering Staff and other vendors
  • Walkthrough of the Venue
  • Sound and Lighting Design
  • Master of Ceremonies Duties: Organizing the Wedding Party, Making all the Announcements including Introductions and all the Formalities
  • Programming and Proper Timing of Music and Requests
  • Creating a Fun and Personalized Dance Environment throughout the evening
  • And more…

The key to a smooth wedding reception is all in the details and planning.  There are DJ out there that do not understand the importance of planning and being properly prepared.  They go out there as “just music” and run into problems.  For over 10 years, I have helped hundreds of happy couples create unique, memorable and fun celebrations.  You can use my experience to help you plan your reception, and since I have seen many different situations, I can advise you as to whether something may work or not and why.  I offer completely personalized, custom wedding entertainment.  No two wedding are alike, and I can design a program to fit most wedding budgets.
